The 2020 UCI World Championship in Emilia-Romagna: guided weekend

Outdoor Activities
A daisy tour that follows in the footsteps of the UCI World Championship professionals in Romagna and retraces the magnificent 2020 UCI World Championship circuit to the Imola racetrack. There is also the possibility to customize the daily itineraries on more or less demanding routes on request.

An adventure for true road cycling enthusiasts, takes us to the Romagna hills along the tracks made famous by the Uci World Championship 2020 up to the Imola racetrack. There is also the possibility to customize the daily itineraries on more or less demanding routes on request.

PROGRAM:
Level: Easy / Medium
Average daily distance: 65 km
Total distance: 130 km

Route information: Low-traffic asphalted roads with the least number of transfers on main roads, are the playground that will test us with important gradients and challenging distances in a few days but still accessible to many.

Day 1
Individual arrival in Riolo Terme, the link between Emilia and Romagna. Surrounded by rolling hills, this land has baptized great Italian cycling champions such as Cassani, Fontanelli, Conti and many others.

Day 2
RIDE PASSO DELLA SAMBUCA | 102 km | Medium | The Sambuca pass is one of those climbs where professionals based in the Romagna region of Faenza came to “test their legs” in view of the Dolomite stages of the Giro d'Italia or the Alpine ones of the Tour de France. There are ten kilometers of the climb, almost all fairly regular with the exception of some hairpin bends, which do not excessively ruffle the average gradient of 5.9%. The ascent to 1080 meters of the pass is punctuated by breathtaking views that never leave the cyclist ever since he left Palazzuolo behind. The reunion with the Lamone valley is punctuated by the short ascent of Prato all'Albero, from which one reaches the Colla pass. A short stop in Brisighella will allow you to taste the precious Extra Virgin Olive Oil produced here. In the afternoon we recommend a walking tour of the historic center of Riolo Terme to get to know this pleasant place right away. We recommend dinner at Trattoria da Giovanna.

Day 3
WORLD ROUTE | 27 km | Easy | The big day arrives, twenty-seven kilometers between vineyards and cellars that are a succession of climbs and descents in the highest expression of the bicycle - the cycling world championships - but also a hymn to the desire to live of humanity that on 27 September 2020 gathered on colli di Riolo Terme to watch the world championship won by the predestined Frenchman Julian Alaphilippe, triumphant after the breathtaking chase that the Flemish Wout Van Aert forced him to take. The men's world championship included a ring to be covered 9 times. Within this circuit there are two climbs, Mazzolano 2.7 km long with an average gradient of 6.1 and Cima Galisterna 2.7 km long with an average gradient of 6.4%. The second climb has a stretch of about 1.5 km at 10.6% and a stretch at 14%. During the day it will be possible to stop and visit the Multimedia Museum of the Imola Circuit Checco Costa is the exhibition space dedicated to engines located in the evocative setting of the circuit. Return to the hotel for lunch preceded by a shower and late check-out.

The activity will also take place in case of slight bad weather, so it is advisable to be equipped for temperature changes and low rainfall
